Dexia Tower Brussels

Location

The Dexia Tower is in the heart of Brussels.

In the middle of the Rogier Square this splendid building shines like a beacon over the town. The Tower is visible from several major traffic arteries in the capital and is situated precisely in the middle of the Mint Square – North Station axis.

It has a trapezium-shaped footprint covering an area of 4,400 square metres. If you look at the scale model, you see that the building is conceived as a collection of vertical volumes of odd heights that slide into one another with a sharply bevelled upper surface. These ‘spires’ pointing in different directions make one think of ski-jumps and inform the characteristic silhouette of the Tower, even reminding one of the X in the Dexia logo. On one side the first ten floors form a plinth which appears to hold the whole edifice together.

Seen from different vantage points, the Tower presents as many different aspects, giving the impression each time of a completely different building.

The Tower is no less than 38 stories high. 34 floors are devoted to office spaces 80 metres long at the base. The offices of Dexia SA occupy floors 28 to 32. Floors 33 and 34 are prestige areas reserved for the management (offices, Board room, canteen, video conference rooms, VIP restaurant, etc.). Beneath the sloping roofs of floors 22 to 34 there are terraces. Floors 35 to 38 house the technical installations. Below ground level, five floors have space for 450 parking lots.
